Cabrillo Festival Program Revealed

Maestro Cristi Mācelaru’s 2020 Cabrillo Festival season program has just been announced. The Festival runs from July 26 through August 9, with Cristi leading the Festival Orchestra in works that explore crucial themes—war and power, voting rights and the Holocaust—while delivering the all-important message that art can help heal the world. With help from a stunning roster of soloists and our all-star Orchestra, Cristi allows contemporary music to “speak” in new ways. Thirteen composers will be in residence—offering three world premiere Festival commissions and eight West Coast premieres, all adding up to a potent Cabrillo Festival experience. The Festival is a place where composers can express their truths; where audiences and artists can become a community; and where all can be uplifted by the messages of hope, joy and beauty that arise from great art. Even in turbulent times.
