Pianist Ken Noda & Soprano Michelle Bradley

On Thursday  December 6, 2018, Michelle Bradley and Ken Noda presented a vocal recital in Miami. The audience was absolutely mesmerized. Bradley, whose glorious voice brought to mind the voice of Jessye Norman, is emerging as a superstar who is perfoming major roles at the Metropolitan Opera and Europe in Aida, Trovatore, Turandot, Forza del Destino, Don Giovanni and Ernani. Present in the audience was Bradley’s 90 year-old first teacher, Lois Alba, who flew to Miami from Houston to hear the recital. Read full story

Russian String Orchestra at Florida International University

On November 19, 2018, Misha Rachlevsky and the Russian String Orchestra (formerly called the Kremlin Chamber Orchestra) presented a most unusually varied and interesting program at Florida International University’s (FIU) Wertheim Concert Hall in Miami. To begin the program, the 14 string players played Elgar’s Serenade for Strings,in E minor, Opus 20. Interestingly, Rachlevsky noted in a program note that he found the second movement “utterly captivating” – and his affection for it, which he projected, “only grew stronger with time.” Read full story

Curtis on Tour in Miami

Curtis on Tour played a stunning concert on Thursday October 25, 2018 at Wertheim Concert Hall in Miami at FIU (Florida International University). The concert, attended by judges from over 50 countries, was given during the Conference of Hague Convention Network Judges which was held at FIU, the location for which had been made possible by Brian Schriner, Dean of FIU’s CARTA (College of Communications, Architecture, Music, Art, and Theater). Clash of the Titans — Franz Liszt v. Sigismond Thalberg

On Thursday September 27, 2018, an interesting recital was presented at the University of Miami’s Gusman Concert Hall. The program, titled “Clash of Titans” was a recreation of The Pianistic Encounter in 1837 between Franz Liszt and  Sigismond Thalberg at the Salon of Princess di Belgiojoso. In this recreation of the event the pianists standing in for Liszt and Thalberg were Asiya Korepanova and Mark Viner. Read full story

Flutist Trudy Kane in recital in Miami
